Well as you all have witnessed in 2010, I am not the best at keeping up with my blog but thought I would do a little recap of 2010 since I haven’t had an entry since we moved to our new....well now not so new barn last January. SBDressage absolutely LOVES our new home at KGF Equestrian Center, the owners, Kevin & Sandi Fortun are amazing and the barn itself is honestly “the best of the best”. We have truly not been anywhere else that has felt more like “home”. KGF did many improvements to their already wonderful facility this summer and fall some of which were re-doing the outdoor arena with state of the art “Pennicle” footing which is “all weather” and is proving to be just that. It is rideable almost 100% of the time 12 months out of the year! Re-leveled and did a face lift on the indoor footing. Added more paddocks, from 6 to now 15 plus redid all the paddock footing with a rubber hoof grid system laid under new sand footing for now MUD FREE turnout year around! Added rubber mats in our cross tie areas. Added lights to the out-door arena. Re-painted the indoor arena and just this week....are finishing putting NEW MIRRORS in the indoor! The place looks amazing!
We love being right next to Bridle Trails State Park, all of us use the trails almost daily and our horses LOVE being able to get out of the arena!
We had a fantastic Show Season, all of our horses as well as our clients/students horses did a wonderful job in 2010 we are so proud of them and we can’t wait to see and witness all of their success in the coming year! We ended our show season with Regional Championships and I must say our horses and clients did an incredible job. There were so many wins and fantastic placing, for a complete list of placing go to our “News” page. My young girl Celene who we lovingly call our “ugly duckling” is really turning into the “swan” we knew she was. She did amazing in her first show season, winning many of her classes and going to each show with a “what’s the big deal” attitude! She is now schooling all the lateral work, understands the basics of passage and half steps and does clean flying changes....all in years work! :-) She is going to be a steady quiet girl to look out for in 2011. Harmony, who belongs to Sandi Fortun, I have been riding since June is also doing amazing. She is an incredible “beauty” and is going so well right now I’m afraid to change anything! She also does all the lateral work, has beautiful mediums, has started half steps and does her changes too. She is going to be a hard one to beat this year so look out! All of our client horses are also just doing amazing, we couldn’t be happier with all the horses and riders progress.
We had the pleasure of getting to have Debbie McDonald come for a clinic in Oct which we ALL loved every minute of! We can’t wait to have her back soon! Our newest “EVENT TO ATTEND” is our clinic with JAN BRINK!!!!! He will be at KGF on Jan 15th-17th. The clinic filled with riders in one day but we do have room to audit. Just got to www.kgfequestraincenter.com to see auditor information.
The week before Christmas I went back east to DC to attend my brother Justin’s graduation from the Secret Service academy. I am so proud of him and had a fantastic time. What an event, so interesting and amazing....such a small elite service of our government.
We had a wonderful holiday season, spent Thanksgiving with our dear friend Lynda and her girls. And spent Christmas in Hood River(east of Portland OR) with my family. Great times were had by all!
I wish you ALL a very HAPPY NEW YEARS! CHEERS for a successful and happy 2011.
Shauntel
Well we survived our first week at KGF with flying colors! We have all our horses here now with a couple training horses coming in, in the next month. All the horses have settled in just wonderfully! My filly Celene was the last to come in last Sat and she literally walked in the barn and said “whats the big deal, its lovely here!”. I lunged her and walked her around on Sat, she had Sun off and today was her first day to work and this amazing little mare just could care less about anything! She was super undersaddle, so relaxed and willing! She is going to make someone a fantastic horse!!!
ALL of the full training horses(Fanny, April, Lacey, Rosey and Madison) are settled into their new home and are working great! Lacey and April had quite the “love affaire” for a few days but they have given it up and are back in reality land! haha
We have our tackroom, crossties/grooming area all set up and we are really feeling at home!
KGF has been absolutely wonderful about granting our every request! We couldn’t be happier or more content with the impeccable care and treatment our horses are getting!
We are really looking forward to another successful week with all our horses and full training horses under the same roof! Please stop by anytime to say HI or to check out our new “home”.
Ciao!
Shauntel
Our lives have been a little crazy and I haven’t taken the time to keep you all updated! So sorry! Ahhhh :-) I hope you ALL had a wonderful holiday season. We sure did. We went to the Nutcracker and did an Argosy Christmas Cruise with our dear friends Todd and Cathy to start off the season, both which were a blast! Jeremy and I spent Christmas with my family in Hood River OR (an adorable touristy/outdoorsy town 45min east of Portland OR... you all should check it out if you ever want a fun “get away” weekend!) and had a wonderful time! My siblings weren’t able to make it out(which was so sad) but we made the most of it with lots of games/food/conversation/fun and YUMMY goodies, thanks to my mom! We spent New Years again with Todd and Cathy....fun/fun and more fun! With that said, we had a great holiday season which left us with a real “need to get things in order” mindset for 2010! Jeremy had been running his side of “Steinberg-Bryant Dressage” out of Cheryl Capriola’s beautiful facility “Lucky Horse Farms”. I have been running by side out of “Shurtugal” but we both decided we just couldn’t keep being in separate facilities any longer....SO we are officially combining Steinberg-Bryant Dressage at the state of the art facility, KGF/Kirkland Huntclub. You can find more out about the facility on our website or you can go directly to www.kgfequestrian.com to see pics and info of our new “home”! We are taking about 10 client/horses with us and we invite you all to stop by to see our new digs anytime. We are also both accepting new clients, both horses in training and lessons. We are both excited to see where this will lead us and the whole “Stienberg-Bryant Dressage” team! Our offical move will take place on Feb 1, so come check us out! :-)
All of our in-training horses are doing wonderful and we appreciate ALL of our current clients support through all of this change. We are so fortunate to have ALL of you!!! :-)
I’ll try and be better at keeping this blog up to date!
Happy 2010 EVERYONE!!!!
Shauntel

So last week was a bit of a soggy week for me and the ponies but we did all survive. We endured a horrendous day of wind at Waterwheel farm and more rain than we care to talk about! haha With all that said I still had a productive week. I got a couple of new horses in training. One being Bobbie’s fabulous gelding Rosey, a big moving sensitive gelding with lots of talent! The other two are Cindy’s young Wistar geldings that I can’t wait to get going and both of which are very cool. :-)
Cheryl’s gelding Fiorello was spectacular last week. Jeremy gave me a lesson on him on Thur and he was so much fun! He’s doing some great half steps, starting passage work, super canter pirouette work and some nice “on the aide” changes! Cheryl is recovering well and will be back on him this week but I sure did enjoy a few weeks riding that wonderful horse!!! Hope he feels great for you Cheryl, and to Fiorello....you stay in front of the leg young man! :-)
Lynda’s two gelding I’m sure will be thrilled to have their “mom” back on them this week. Lynda’s has recovered like a super hero with her broken ankle. Hasn’t been quite a month and she’s getting back in the saddle this week. I’m going to miss riding her two boys as they are so fun but look fwd to helping Lynda with them both. And I know Lynda is looking fwd to getting back into lessons with the “master”, Jeremy!
Trinj has been gone every weekend this month so I’ve had the ultimate pleasure of riding Quincy 3days a week. He is coming along fabulous, I LOVE that horse. He started a few half steps and figured it out so fast it was scary! Transitions are going great and he trot med....where did they come from Q! :-)
My two kids only got lunged a few days last week due to the weather so I am looking fwd to getting on them this week! They are both getting body clipped this week as they literally look like they could live quite comfortably in Antarctica! I did get some video of Titan on the website last week, you really should check it out. I will get some more on there in the next few weeks as I think he is going to come along really quickly. I will have some footage of Celene on her sales page hopefully by the end of the week. She is such a fabulous filly and very sad for me will go on the market at the end of this month.
We had a super FUN weekend as our wonderful friend Samantha Reid from Victoria BC and her whole family came down for a visit. We had a couple of great dinners with the gang(Lynda, Caitlyn, Taryn, Melonie, Monica, Sams Fam, J and I) and of course a night out on the town. Lots of super food, great drinks and amazing fun! haha
I really can’t believe how fast this summer went by and now we are already into winter and the Holidays! As much as I complain about the rain I do LOVE the holiday season(Christmas is my favorite!) and am looking fwd to that. :-)
Hope everyone is doing well.
Keep your snorkels handy!!!!
Shauntel

Jeremy and I are happy to announce that we have merged websites and our business! We are very excited about this new life changing venture and can’t wait to take you along with us! Take a look around and let me know your thoughts and ideas, I’m open to suggestions!

So as alot of you already know Jeremy and I are looking for a new farm to base our business out of. We have a few viable options but we are still talking about what would be best for us and our wonderful clients. We hope to have some answers for you all very soon. We are looking at options here in Washington State as well as a few out of state possibilities. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas we are very open to listening!

As of this moment I am running my business out of Cheryl Capriola’s beautiful farm “Lucky Horse Farm”, as well as working out of Lynda’s Cushmans farm and teaching lessons at various arenas.

So for an update on this week, I am fortunate enough to have my 2 horses at my dear friend Lynda Cushman’s private farm in Kirkland (huge thanks to you buddy!). In case you all don’t know my 2 youngsters, I have a 3yr old RhPSI Filly named Celene. Jeremy helped me start her undersaddle about 4months ago and she is going great! She has a fabulous mind, is super quiet and willing....she will be on the market soon and will make a fabulous amateur mount due to her incredible mind and lovely movement. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you are looking for your next dressage partner or know of someone that is. She is on the sales page on the website. My other youngster is my new “love”, Titan is a 5yr old Hann gelding bred by Maggi Clark (the same breeder of Jeremy’s amazing filly Dona Flor) of Arlington Wa. Maggi offered me a deal that I couldn’t turn down and so I purchased him 6 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier with him. He is a greenie, w-t-c and just learning what contact and what“on the bit” means. Be he amazes me everyday by his willing temperament and fabulous gaits! Jeremy came and watched me ride him about 2 weeks ago and said “wow, those are international quality gaits!”...needless to say that made my day! I have high hopes he will be my new FEI partner. I will post pics and keep you updated on my ponies often. They are both on “the horses” page and I will get pics and info up on them very soon.

Well I’m finally tired and should head towards bed. Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!
Shauntel
